Angela Calarino

Updated 4/28/2022

Angela Calarino

Angela was the daughter of Harry Calarino (1900-1990) and Anna LaMura (1903-1965). Cousin Maryann Ward Downs said that Angela looked a lot like Aunt Reggie (Rose LaMura DeFeo 1907-1984).

Angela was born September 28, 1927, but, tragically died on March 3, 1944 when she was only 16. According to her death certificate, Angela had been suffering from diabetes and kidney disease. On February 19, 1944, she was admitted to Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn for treatment for kidney disease. She was still there two weeks later when she died of cardiac failure. She was buried at Saint John's Cemetery in Queens, New York.

The notation on the back of the photo says she was 16 when the photo was taken. Maryann said that the photo was taken in Owls Head Park in Brooklyn shortly before she passed away. She was there with Maryann's mother Adelaide (Nori) Ward, Aunt Mary Nori Williams and Maryann. "I remember, there was a big fight between two groups and my mother had me hide under a park bench and she, Angela and Mary surrounded the bench to keep me safe till the police came."
