Angela Calarino
Born September 28, 1927 in Brooklyn, New York
Died March 3, 1944 at Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn, age 16 years

Father: Santo "Harry" Calarino
Mother: Anna LaMura

Cause of death: Cardiac Arrest secondary to Kidney Disease


Angela had been suffering from Diabetes Mellitus, characterized by high blood sugar levels resulting from a shortage of the hormone insulin or an insensitivity to this hormone. Although regular diabetes and diabetes mellitus have some features in common, they are separate disorders with different causes.

Angela also sufferred from "chronic nephritis with uremia." Nephritis and Uremia are symptoms of kidney disease. On February 19, 1944, sixteen-year-old Angela was admitted to Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn for treatment for kidney disease. She was still there two weeks later when she died of cardiac failure. She was buried at Saint John's Cemetery in Queens, New York.
