CAUSES OF DEATH

Line

Clifford Evans
Born March 28, 1894 in Keyport, New Jersey
Died April 15, 1957 at East Orange General Hospital in East Orange, NJ, age 63 years

Father: Samuel Evans
Mother: Ellen Mount
Spouse: Pasqualine (Nancy) DiSanto (1896-1966)

Cause of death: Diabetes Mellitus

Diabetes Mellitus is characterized by high blood sugar levels resulting from a shortage of the hormone insulin or an insensitivity to this hormone. Although regular diabetes and diabetes mellitus have some features in common, they are separate disorders with different causes.

Clifford also suffered from bilateral renal calculi, or kidney stones, a common cause of blood in the urine and pain in the abdomen, flank, or groin. It occurs in 1 in 20 people at some time in their life. Development of the stones is related to decreased urine volume or increased excretion of stone-forming components such as calcium, oxalate, urate, cystine, xanthine, and phosphate.

One month before he died, he developed pyelonephritis (kidney infection), a type of urinary tract infection that generally begins in the urethra or bladder and travels to one or both of the kidneys.
