Cause of death: Abdominal Obstruction

Russell and Frances had one child, Delite Winans, born in 1941. Frances was four months pregnant with their second child when she became ill. The cause of death on her death certificate is difficult to read, but abdominal obstruction is clearly written. She died at the age of only 22, leaving Russell to raise the nearly 3-year-old Delite alone.
