CAUSES OF DEATH

Line

Carmela LaMura
born June 21, 1869 in Castellammare di Stabia, Italy
died December 14, 1930 at 397 Union Street in Brooklyn, NY, age 58 years

Father: Giuseppe Lanzara (1836-1901)
Mother: Petronilla Bonifacio (1844-1934)

Cause of death: Acute Cardiac Dilatation / Chronic Bronchitis

Cardiac Dilatation is an enlargement of the heart. An enlarged heart may be caused by a thickening of the heart muscle because of increased workload. This increased workload can be due to heart valve disease or high blood pressure. Add to this the stress brought on by the symptoms of chronic bronchitis, and the weakened heart can no longer continue to function, resulting in death.

Carmela, who was born Maria Carmela Lanzara in Castellammare di Stabia, Italy, was suffering from these problems for 2 years before she died in her home at 397 Union Street in Brooklyn. She was buried at Holy Cross Cemetery.
