Louis DeGennaro Grocery Store
This photo is from the collection of Louis' granddaughter, Anne DeGennaro.
Louis owned his own grocery or delicatessen store in Brooklyn, located at 498 Flatbush Avenue. Presumably, this is at that address.
Louis and Anna and their children lived in an apartment over the grocery.
As to the date of the photo, Anne remembers her grandfather saying that he "had to marry" her grandmother. When they asked him why.... he would say, "Because I needed help in the store!"
Apparently, he wanted her to live there with him and she wouldn't live there without being married. So, he had the store prior to February 1913, when they were married.
She also remembers her father Louis J. DeGennaro saying he remembered the day his father closed up the store for the last time during the depression, so that puts it at the latest to around 1929/1930.
He looks very young in the picture. She doesn't recall her father saying who the other two people were in the picture.
