Family Picnic

It was the Lanzaros and Cannizzaros getting together at our house in Morganville. Standing, from left to right: Aunt Evelyn (Winans) Lanzaro, Pete Peterson, Barbara Johnston, Uncle Joe Lanzaro (with chef's hat), Minnie (Cannizzaro) Johnston, Blick Wyckoff (drinking beer), Pete Peterson, Sr., Garry Vanderwiel holding his son, Peter, Uncle Larry and Aunt Phil (DellaPietro) Lanzaro, and my father and mother. Kneeling, left to right: Kit (Cannizzaro) Wyckoff, her daughter Nan, Bunny (Cannizzaro) Vanderwiel, and my sister, Jeanne. And there's Perky the Dog.

Not sure of the exact date. Probably July 4, 1954. Aunt Phil was pregnant at the time and Larry Jr. was born September 3, 1954. In the photo below, it's the same people, except Cousin Louise (Lanzaro) Peterson is standing on the left while her recently wedded husband Pete is taking the photo.

You might be wondering why I am not in any of the photos. I can only guess, based on the absence of two other cousins, Jane Wckoff and Patty Johnston, that we are off playing in the large wooded area across the field in the photo above. We were all around the same age, 7 - 11, and the woods was an area of adventure that we enjoyed exploring.

I just found this photo of cousin Patty Johnston and me holding watermelons at the picnic. This photo must have been taken after the others.
