On May 13, 1903 Baby Giovanni Grillo died and was buried in the plot in the photo above. He was born in Brooklyn in October of 1901, died May 13, 1903 and buried May 15, 1903. A second baby was buried there in 1907. His name was Giuseppe Fiore, born March 20, 1906, in Italy. He was a cousin of Giovanni. He died May 20, 1907 in Manhattan and was buried May 21, 1907.
When Phillippa Grillo Desiano passed away on June 21, 1941, her father Giovanni Grillo buried Phillippa in the same grave with her brother Baby Giovanni Grillo and Cousin Baby Giuseppe Fiore. At that time, Philippa's sister Catarina (Kate, Katherine) Grillo paid the cemetery to have permanent care of the gravestone, referred to as Care-B, not needing a deed and remaining forever.
On May 16, 1947, the bodies of Baby Giovanni Grillo and Philippa Grillo Desiano were exhumed
and put into the community mausoleum next to her father and mother's crypt.
The location of the crypt is 48 Aisle M. Note: plans are in motion to add Baby Giovanni Grillo's name to this crypt. As of 2023, Baby Giuseppe Fiore is the only one buried at the old gravesite. Plans are in motion for Baby Giuseppe Fiore to be memorialized on that monument.
