Cause of death: Cerebral Meningitis

Bacteria that enters the bloodstream and travels to the brain and spinal cord causes acute bacterial meningitis. But it can also occur when bacteria directly invades the meninges, the membranes that cover the brain and spinal cord. This may be caused by an ear or sinus infection, a skull fracture, or, rarely, after some surgeries.
