Cause of death: Premature Birth

A mystery baby. Little Annie's death certificate does not provide an entry for the names of her parents, only their place of birth. At first, I was going to place this into my "unrelated" file when I noticed her place of death: 147 Conover Street in Brooklyn. This was the home to Elizabeth Lanzaro and her 4 small children, plus the home of Giuseppe and Petronilla Lanzara and their children Ciro, Salvatore and Carmela, and Carmela's husband Catello LaMura.

The mystery became even more amazing when I found the death certificate of a Catherine Lanzaro, who was born in October 1895 and died at 147 Conover Street a week after Annie on August 16, 1896. Again, the death certificate does not list the names of the parents. Catherine and Annie were born 10 months apart, so they could have had the same mother. But, I have no idea who that might have been.

Annie and Catherine are buried together in Holy Cross Cemetery in Brooklyn.
