This was where the Desiano family was living in 1940. There were two small apartments here. Vito and Mary, and nine of their children, plus Mary's 86-year-old mother Elizabeth Lanzaro, rented one of the apartments for $28 per month. Note the For Sale sign.

Between 1939 and 1941, New York City photographed every building in the five boroughs for tax purposes.
