An excerpt from the March 4, 1954 issue of the Matawan Journal:

Miss Louise Marie Lanzaro, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph A. Lanzaro, Sr., of Tennent Rd., Morganville, became the bride of Peter Peterson, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Peterson, Sr., of Texas Rd., Old Bridge, on Sunday, Feb. 28, 1954, at 4 p.m. in St. Joseph's Church, Keyport. The Rev. Cornelius J. Kane, pastor, officiated at the double-ring ceremony.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a formal satin gown terminating in a long train. Her fitted bodice was buttoned down the front, with a lace edged neckline and an Elizabethan collar. The wide skirt had panels of lace down the front. Her long sleeves ended in points at the wrist. The fingertip-length veil of French Illusion was edged with lace and fell from a crown of queen’s pearls and rhinestones. She carried a cascade bouquet of white rosebuds with lace tufts.

Mrs. Vincent Gentile, Morganville, was her sister's matron of honor. Her full length gown of rose iridescent taffeta was made with a strapless bodice, over which she wore a matching bolero styled with three quarter length push up sleeves and an Elizabethan collar. She wore a queen’s crown made with a mesh effect of matching taffeta and net. She carried a matching taffeta muff trimmed with white gerbera.

Mrs. John Peterson, South Amboy, sister-in-law of the bridegroom, was the bridal attendant. She wore a full length green iridescent taffeta, styled like the matron of honor’s. Her matching muff was trimmed with white rosebuds.

John Peterson, South Amboy, served as his brother’s best man, and ushering was Robert Greiner, Colonia.

For their wedding trip to Niagara Falls, the bride selected a navy blue taffeta dress sprinkled with white, pink coat, white hat and gloves, and navy blue bag and shoes. She wore a corsage of gardenias.

The mother of the bride chose a gray organza afternoon dress, with navy blue accessories and a corsage of gardenias.

The bridegroom’s mother wore a rose crepe afternoon dress with matching hat and black accessories. Her corsage was made of white camellias.

A reception followed at the Portuguese Club, Perth Amboy.

The bride was graduated from Matawan High School and was employed at Muriel Frocks, Keyport. The bridegroom attended Woodbridge High School, and served in the U. S. Navy. He is employed by J. Rich Steers Construction Co., New York.

When they return from their wedding trip, they will reside at 148 Jackson St., Matawan.
